RANA-FM: Light In Your Life

RANA To Cease Broadcasting

E-mail Print PDF

Announcement from Rana FM

After four years of successful broadcasting in Kandahar Province, Rana FM will cease to broadcast in May 2011.

Four years ago, when there were only three radio stations in Kandahar Rana FM, with the help of Canadian government, began broadcasting for Kandahar's noble people providing information, education and entertainment programming especially for the younger generation .

Canada's mission in Afghanistan has now changed as it refocuses its efforts from fighting the insurgents in the Kandahar area to training the Afghan National Security Forces.  As a result, Canadian broadcast priorities will also shift to the new mission of helping Afghans achieve the task of securing their own country.

Closing down Rana FM is a tough decision but with Kandahar have a number of listening options and the change in mission it is the correct one.  We encourage you turn into Radio Sada-e-Azadi 88.5 as a source of information, education and entertainment programming.
